TOPAZ 1402 LUXURY APARTMENTS

The Topaz apartment building on the Strand beachfront had an appealing elliptical shape running around the length of its 30 plus floors, but the architects needed something to cap off the ellipse right at the top.

Using the versatility of tensile structures Tension Structures designed an ‘egg’ shaped structure to do just this. Designing a fabric structure to resist the extremely high wind speeds experienced atop a 30 story building is a challenge that Tension Structures took on willingly and with success. Testament to this is the presence of The Egg years later still providing the aesthetic finish to this impressive building.
